Hobson
Signes Two Transfers for 2008-09 Season (7/3/08)
Fort Hays State women's basketball coach Tony Hobson
has announced the signing of two junior college transfers for
the 2008-09 season. The transfers include Audra Binford
from Seward County Community College and Morgan Clark
from Indenpendence Community College. Clark signed earlier
with in the year with previous head coach Annette Wiles.
Binford is a 6'0" junior guard and is a native of
Haviland, Kan. She averaged 9.0 points per game and led the
Saints in three-point field goals made this past season. Clark
is a 5'9" junior guard and a native of Aurora, Ill and
averaged 4.3 ppg and 4.6 rpg. The two players bring the
recruiting class to three after high school recruit Dani
Johnson singed in November of 2007.
Hoffstetter Hired as Women's Basketball Assistant Coach
(7/2/08)
Recently named FHSU women's basketball coach Tony Hobson
named Carrie Hoffstetter as the school's assistant
women's basketball coach. Hoffstetter comes to the program
from Hastings College (Neb.) where she served as an assistant
under Hobson the past four years. Hoffstetter played for
Hobson at Hastings and was a member of two NAIA II national
championship teams and was an NAIA National All-Tournament
Team selectoin three years. Hoffstetter is a native of Edgar,
Neb. and played her prep career at Sandy Creek High School
where she helped her school to four undefeated state titles.

Named FHSU Women’s Basketball Coach (6/2/08)
Fort
Hays State University has named Tony Hobson the
school’s new head women’s basketball coach. Hobson
replaces Annette Wiles who resigned three weeks ago to
become the coach at Minnesota-Duluth. Hobson comes to Hays
from Hastings College in Nebraska where his teams won three
NAIA national championships and compiled a 234-50 record over
seven seasons. This past year's team finished 30-6, losing in
two overtimes in the national semifinals. Prior to Hastings,
Hobson coached for six years at Cloud County Community College
and three at Barton County. Hobson played at Barton County and
Hastings College and is in the Barton County Sports Hall of
Fame.
Wiles
Named Head Coach at Minnesota-Duluth (5/12/08)
After eight years coaching her alma mater, Fort Hays State
women’s coach Annette Wiles has decided to move on.
Wiles has accepted the same position at Minnesota-Duluth where
she will begin May 19th according to the UMD website. Wiles
has won 300 games in her 15-year coaching career which
includes seven at Bethany College. She was 136-89 in eight
years at Fort Hays State with one trip to the NCAA II national
tournament. The Tigers
have struggled in their first two years in the MIAA going
14-13 last year and 12-15 this past season, Wiles first losing
season as a head coach. Wiles is a member of the Fort
Hays State Sports Hall of Fame as an individual and also as a
member of the 1991 NAIA national championship team.

Willhite Named HM All-MIAA (3/2/08)
The Fort Hays State women have two honorable mention picks.
Seniors Sheena Kuntzsch and Brianna Willhite
receive the honor. The first team is led by now three-time
first team pick Michelle Stueve of Emporia State who was a
unanimous pick for league MVP. She’s joined by Erika Souza
of Southwest Baptist, Corkey Stiger from Washburn, Yanique
Javois from Missouri Western and Truman State’s Georgia
Mueller. Washburn’s Jessica Mainz is defensive player of the
year, Central Missouri’s Kara Fleming is freshman of the
year and Southwest Baptist’s Jim Middleton is coach of the
year.
