FHSU Men's Basketball 5th In
Division II Attendance (5/12/10)
Attendance at Fort Hays State men's basketball games was
among the best in Division II this past season. The Tigers
averaged 2,901 at home this year which was fifth best in
Division and better than 176 Division I schools. MIAA champ
Central Missouri was just ahead of the Tigers at fourth,
averaging one more person per home game.. Northern State
(S.D.) led the country for a third straight season, at 3,414.
The MIAA was the top Division II conference in attendance for
a second straight year at 1,691. Six MIAA schools were ranked
in the top-20 in attendance.

Men’s Basketball Signs Two High School Seniors (4/15/10) The Fort Hays State men’s basketball team has added a
couple of freshman for next season. 6-4 guard Matt Buhler and
6-9 center Sage Penner signed letters of intent this week.
Buhler is from Rossville and averaged just under 18 points, 8
rebounds and 3.6 assists per game in helping the Bulldogs to a
third-place finish at the 3A state tournament. Buhler is a
two-time KBCA All-State selection including first-team this
past season. Penner is from Stockton and averaged a
double-double his senior season at 14 points and 10 rebounds
to go along with 4 blocked shots per game. He was an All-State
honorable mention pick by the Topeka Capital Journal.

Jones Named To NABC All-District Team (3/16/10) Fort Hays State junior guard
Dominique Jones has been named to the National Association of
Basketball Coaches All-District team. Jones earned
All-District second-team in the South Central Region and is
one of four players from the MIAA to receive all-district
honors. Jones
led the 23-7 Tigers in scoring in 2009-10, averaging 13.0
points per game. He also finished as the team leader in
3-point field goals made (56), assists per game (3.9) and
steals per game (1.7). He also shot just under 81 percent at
the free-throw line (.808).
