MIAA Pitcher Of The Week (3/9/10)
Fort Hays State left-handed pitcher Sean Bartholomew is
this week’s MIAA Pitcher of the Week. Bartholomew
had a no-hitter through 5 1/3 innings of a seven-inning game
with Emporia State Saturday. His effort led to a 3-0 shutout
of the Hornets in the second game of the series. The senior
from Beatrice, Neb., struck out eight and walked just two. He
was pulled immediately after he gave up his only hit and Mat
Atkinson worked the final 1 2/3 innings for a save.

Fall To No. 14 In DII Coaches Poll (3/9/10)
The Fort Hays State men's basketball drops one spot to No.
14 in this week's NABC Division II poll. The Tigers are one of
three teams in this weekend's NCAA II South Central Regional
ranked in this week's poll. Host Midwestern State moves up to
No. 3 and Central Missouri of the MIAA drops to No. 7.

FHSU No. 3 Seed At NCAA II South Central Regional (3/7/10)
The Fort Hays State Tigers are headed to their ninth NCAA
II national tournament. The Tigers will be the No. 3 seed and
play Central Oklahoma at noon Saturday afternoon. The regional will be hosted by
Midwestern State and played in Wichita Falls, Texas. The
Mustangs are the No. 1 seed and face Incarnate Word (Tex.).
MIAA regular season champ Central Missouri is the No. 2 seed
and will play fellow MIAA foe Missouri Western in the tourney
opener at 12pm. Tarleton State
(Tex.) is the No. 4 seed and will face Nebraska-Omaha. The
tournament begins Saturday with the semifinals on Sunday. The
regional final will be played Tuesday March 16th.

Tigers Fall In Opening Round Of MIAA Tournament (3/4/10)
The Fort Hays State Tigers turned the ball over 17 times
and hit just 10-of-17 free throws and drop the MIAA tournament
opener 65-61 to Emporia State. The Tigers scored the first
five points of the game but the Hornets scored the next six
and led for the final 34 minutes. Fort Hays was outscored 20-2
off of turnovers and by 13 points at the free throw line. Tim
Peintner led two Tigers in double-figures with 17 points while
Dominique Jones added 10. The Tigers are now 22-6.
Lady Tigers Upset Bid Falls Short At MIAA Tournament (3/4/10)
The Fort Hays
State Lady Tigers pushed No. 15 Emporia State in their MIAA
tournament opener last night in Kansas City, but a big second
half by the Hornets lifted them to a 72-66 victory. Fort Hays
State hit six first-half 3's in building a 14-point lead and
was up nine in the second half when the Hornets put together a
17-2 run to take their first lead of the game. The Tigers
scored the next six to tie the game and led by three with a
little over three minutes to play before getting outscored
14-5 the rest of the way. Fort Hays was just 2-for-12 from
behind the arc in the second half while the Hornets, who hit
just 1-of-11 3's in the first half, hit 5-of-10 in the second.
Fort Hays State was led in scoring by their four seniors.
Erica Biel led the way with 18, Naomi Bancroft 16, Audra
Binford 10 and Kayla Klug 9 along with 8 assists. FHSU ends
their season on an 8-game losing streak and with a 15-13
record.
