Hires Soccer Coaches (7/14/10)
The
start of their inaugural season is still over a year away, but
Fort Hays State has hired their new men’s and women’s
soccer coaches. Oliver Twelvetrees, who currently coaches at
Barton (Kan.) Community College, will head the men’s program
while Craig Shaw, who has spent the last three years at Ottawa
(Kan.) University will guide the women. Twelvetrees has made
the Barton program a perennial power, going 75-9-3 over the
past four years including two conference championships one
region championship and a district title which qualified the
Cougars for the eight-team national championship tournament.
Shaw was 38-20-5 in three years at Ottawa and won the KCAC
title this past season and has had the league’s Freshman of
the Year in all three of his years. He says he’s have a mix
of freshman and junior college transfers. Shaw begins his new
job at the end of the month while Twelvetrees will coach the
Cougars this fall then start at Fort Hays State in December.
Fort Hays State president Dr. Ed Hammond says work on the new
stadium is ahead of schedule and construction and should be
